Runner Responsibilities

  • Be on time!  Check the race day schedule to determine your check-in time and be there!

  • If you decide you cannot continue your race, it is IMPERATIVE that you inform the Race Director, a radio team member, or other adult volunteer. Do not just go home! I will be spending the rest of the day trying to find you!!

  • Be kind and courteous to all other runners. The trail is no place for shaming others. Need to pass someone? Great! Just give them a heads up, wait for a reasonable spot and say “can I pass on your left/right?” Then say “You’re doing great” before you motor away!

  • Be nice to and thank all the volunteers! You would be hard pressed to find more amazing, friendly, and supportive folks than these! Mayhem wouldn’t happen without them!

  • Stay on the course!  We mark the CRAP out of this course, so if you’ve gone more than 1 minute without seeing a flag, turn around and go back to the last flag you saw. Race day is not the day to explore!

  • Be aware of and respect cut-off times! These can be found on the website and in the previous email. Aid station workers WILL stop you if you miss cut-offs. DON’T give them grief. Just buckle up and do what you need to do to get those extra minutes in your legs for next year!

  • Have a KICKASS time! Remember, everyone is out here for different reasons.  I absolutely expect you all to ENJOY yourselves! Help other people! Encourage other people! And remember, this is hard and you will have to WORK, but this is NOT the Olympic trials. Challenge yourself and be hardcore, but don’t take it all too seriously darlings! Enjoy your time in the woods!!

  • Hug your RD team!
